Leaf viewing generally starts mid-September with the maples... Scenic Hwy 34 between Osage and Detroit Lakes is one of the prettiest drives in the state... and continues through the first part of October. Road maps of the Smokey Hills State Forest are available for driving tours or hiking. Itasca State Park is just a 20 minute drive away and offers biking and hiking trails. Climb their fire tower for a fantastic view of the area!
